Ennett Recipient of OHA's Donald Sanderson Award

Former Mitchell Hawk and former Huron-Perth Laker Jerry Ennett was awarded the OHA's Donald Sanderson Award.

The Ontario Hockey Association presents the award in recognition of the Most Valuable and Most Sportsman-like Player. The OHA says in a release it's given to a player who " best exemplifies the four D's that were evident in Donald's life: Dedication, Desire, Discipline and Deportment."

Winners must be enrolled in either College or University.

Ennett played for the New Hamburg Firebirds this past season, finishing third in the league scoring with 22 goals and 41 assists in 40 games.

The Stratford native also attends the University of Guelph as a third year biomedical engineering student. He designed and 3D printed medical devices for use in emergency situations in developing countries and long-range space missions including a myoelectric prostheic hand and arm, and a customizable splint that will be the first ever medical device to be 3D printed in space.

He has also worked at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive for a number of year and won a $5000 award for the Food Drive that was put towards cooking school for the less fortunate in Stratford.

Ennett will be presented with the award at the Hockey Hall of Fame on Friday June 3rd.
