New Snowmobile Safety Signs In Perth County

Snowmobilers in many parts of Perth County can expect to see new signs at road crossings, courtesy of the Golden Triangle Snowmobile Club.

The signs are intended to inform riders on how to contact emergency services in the event of an accident on the trail.

Ron Horst spearheaded the project, which was partly inspired by first hand experience contacting emergency services while out on his sled.

“We feel it's a great initiative. We think it's something that should be province wide. And it does cost, it takes funding, it was probably about a ten-thousand dollar project to do just those twelve clubs and there's three-hundred-fifty some clubs, I believe, in the province so it's a big initiative.”

The new signs are not across all of Perth County yet, but Horst believes it has the potential to catch on with clubs across the province and the country.
