Bruce Power Donates $25,000 To Local Projects

Bruce Power has donated $25,000 each to two separate initiatives locally.

The first is to aid the making of a documentary film celebrating the history of the county, which will be complete for the county and Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017.

Ross Lamont, the head of the steering committee responsible for the documentary, made a statement about the donation.

“The 150th anniversary of Bruce County led to us wanting to document the legacy and history of the county for future generations to both be aware of, and enjoy,” says Lamont. “The support and involvement of the community is critical to the success of this documentary about Bruce County’s heritage, and the Bruce County Historical Society thanks Bruce Power for its generous contribution to the project.”

The second donation is to the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority to aid in some upcoming projects. The projects will implement restorative and conservation practices in and around Bruce County waterways with the objective of improving and rehabilitating water quality and increasing populations of warm water fish.

“Bruce Power continues to be an incredible supporter of a number of our important programs that greatly benefit the environment and the residents in the Saugeen Watershed,”says Wayne Brohman, general manager/secretary-treasurer for the SVCA “These sponsor-ships will be an incredible boost to the implementation of local environmental projects, and Saugeen Conservation is extremely proud to partner with Bruce Power on conservation initiatives that will be felt for many generations.”
