Small Crowd For Woodford All Candidates Meeting

While the all-candidates meeting at Woodford Community Centre was relatively small last night - about 45 people attended - organisers made sure voters had ample opportunity to speak with all four of the candidates.

Larry Miller, the Conservative incumbent for the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound riding, is seeking another term in the House of Commons.

Determined to win that seat away from Miller are Liberal candidate Kimberly Love, NDP candidate David McLaren, and Chris Albinati of the Green Party.

Voters questioned candidates about many issues, but the most frequent questions dealt with senate reform, climate change, federal-provincial relations, and replacing the first-past-the-post elections with a fairer system of voting.

Some also asked about the possible effects of the new Trans Pacific Partnership on farming communities across Canada.

The meeting was sponsored by the Meaford Chamber of Commerce.
