Jones, Knights Beat Erie 6-2

Max Jones scored twice as the London Knights beat the Erie Otters 6-2 Sunday afternoon at Budweiser Gardens.

Jones also picked up two assists for the Knights, who move into a third-place tie with the idle Owen Sound Attack in the OHL Midwest Division with 32 points.

There was no scoring in the first period, but each team had one power play opportunity.

Cliff Pu put the Knights on the board first at 7:21 of the middle period with his 14th goal of the year. Kyle Maksimovich tied the game for the Otters over three minutes later, but Sam Miletic's goal soon after gave London a 2-1 lead. Andrew Perrott provided some insurance for the Knights when he scored his first goal of his OHL career, but Erie's Ivan Lodnia scored a power play goal to pull his team to within one by the second intermission.

Jones extended the Knights' lead to 4-2 at 1:48 in the third period on the power play. Jones struck again in the middle of the frame to collect his 18th goal of the season. Robert Thomas sealed the game with a power-play goal.

Joseph Raaymakers took the win in net for the Knights, stopping 22 shots. Daniel Murphy had 17 saves in goal for the Otters.

The Knights complete the home-and-away series in Erie Tuesday night.
