JV Cougars Dominate Tiger-Cats In Quarter-Final

The Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars are roaring into the semi-finals after a big win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats over the weekend.

The Cougars easily slipped by the Tiger-Cats, beating them 49-0 Sunday in front of a home crowd at CKSS.

Seven different players scored TDs for Chatham-Kent, including Connor Wright, who blocked a punt attempt and returned it for a touchdown.

Jonathan Cartier led the aerial assault for the Cougars, throwing for 137 yards and a touchdown on five successful passing attempts.

PeeWee Cougars Lose Defensive Battle To Forest City

The PeeWee Chatham-Kent Cougars didn't fare quite as well as their JV counterparts.

The PeeWee team lost 7-6 in a tight defensive battle against the Forest City Thunderbirds.

With the win, the Thunderbirds finished third, while the Cougars ended up in fourth place.

Brayden Skaarup stood out on defence for the Cougars with seven solo tackles and one assist.

Brennan Normandin-Kerr carried Chatham-Kent's offence, racking up 133 yards rushing including the Cougars' only touchdown of the game on a 55-yard gain.

Trio Of Undefeated Horses At Dresden Raceway

Three horses will be going into next week’s final of the Mark Austin Pacing Series undefeated.

STEP IN MY GROOVE won for the second time in a row at the local half mile track’s Mark Austin Pacing Series for driver Nick Steward.

In the second division, ACTION TOWN and driver/trainer Donnie Rankin headed to the winner’s circle for the second week in a row.

PULL THE SHADE and Rooney also made it two in a row in the series for driver Garrett Rooney.

And rounding out the competition, ABITOFALRIGHT was the winner of the fourth division of pacers for Nick Steward.

Lakers, Jr. Kings Camps Opening Soon

The Wallaceburg Lakers will be opening their main camp at the Walpole Island Arena on August 15-18.

Attendance by the camp is by invite only -- anyone else who wants to attend should contact GM Ritch Kanally at 226-229-2971 or Asst. GM Daryll Lucio @ 519-365-4515.

The Dresden Jr. Kings are also holding their main camp in August.

It will take place from August 24-27.
