Lightning Squeak By Titans 119-117

The London Lightning prevailed over the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans at The Aud Sunday afternoon 119-117.

It was a tight, back-and-forth affair with neither team keeping a sizable lead.  The Lightning victory was sealed when the Titans' Isiah Umipig missed a three-point shot at the buzzer that would have given Kitchener-Waterloo the win.

The Titans had a 59-58 lead at the half.  London used its inside game to take a slight edge in the third quarter though Kitchener-Waterloo threatened offensively in the final quarter.

The Lightning's record is now 31-5, by far the best record in the NBL this season so far.

Kyle Johnson led the Lightning and all scorers with 31 points.  Royce White had 17 points and Doug Herring, Jr. chipped in 16.  Marvin Singleton led London on defence with nine rebounds.

Flenard Whitfield was first in offence with Kitchener-Waterloo, putting 28 points through the net and shooting 11-for-16 from within the paint.  He was also first for the Titans in defence with nine rebounds.  Adam Blezak sank 23 points and Umipig brought down 14.

The Lightning and Titans complete the home-and-away series Wednesday night at Budweiser Gardens.
