Dorchester Gets Past Essex 4-3

Braeden Dorion scored twice as the Dorchester Dolphins pulled out a 4-3 win over the Essex 73s Sunday night at the Essex Centre.

The 73s still lead the best-of-seven PJHL West Conference Finals two games to one.

Dorchester cracked the scoreboard first just past the halfway point of the opening frame, off the stick of Dorion.  The Dolphins had just one power play chance in the first 20 minutes of play.

The 73s evened things up with the only goal of the second period, from Luke Gecse on the power play.  The 73s capitalized just once out of two power play opportunities in the middle frame.

The Dolphins offence came to life in the third period.  Dorchester took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Jay Ritchie at 6:51.  Less than a minute later, however, Essex evened the score again when Michael Vieira found the net.  Dorion broke the tie shortly after with his second goal of the game, then Dylan Buckholz scored the game-winner less than a minute later.   The 73s came within one before the end of the game thanks to a William Stadder goal.

Riley Brown had 40 saves between the pipes for Dorchester.  Tyler Ryan faced just 20 shots in the Essex goal, stopping 16 of them.

Game 4 is Wednesday night in Dorchester.
