Nationals Trounce Maroons 8-2

The London Nationals hammered the Chatham Maroons 8-2 on Wednesday, to take a 3-1 series lead in Game 4.

The Nationals drew first blood with goal 8:27 into the game, but Teddy McGeen tied things up with a goal for Chatham after 11:55.

London retook the lead early in the second period, but the Maroons were quick tie the score again thanks to a goal by Bryce Yetman. The Nationals surged ahead in the second half of the frame, scoring four back-to-back goals to take a 6-2 lead.

London scored another two unanswered goals in the final frame to cap off their win.

"We, I think, went 0-3 on our breakaways tonight, and they went 2-2... Sometimes that's all you need is a break like that to break things open," says Maroons head coach Ron Horvat. "We need to stay disciplined, we always talk about that but I think they see it tonight. We can't go into tomorrow night and make the pretty play."

The Nationals also outshot the Maroons 44-37.

The Maroons will look to stay alive in the best-of-seven series when they return home for Game 5 against the Nationals on Thursday.

The puck drops at 7pm. You can hear the game live on Country 92.9FM / 630AM CFCO or online by clicking here.
