Knights Dominate the IceDogs 11-2

Four London Knights scored twice each in their 11-2 muzzling of the Niagara IceDogs Sunday afternoon at Budweiser Gardens.

The Knights' eight unanswered goals throughout the first two periods of the contest put Niagara out of it in a hurry.  With that, the Knights take sole possession of the OHL Midwest Division lead with 67 points, two ahead of the idle Erie Otters.

Niagara did get the first goal of the game, as Ondrej Machala notched his sixth goal of the season at 5:37 in the opening period.  The rest of that period was a scoring bonanza for the Knights, as they scored five straight goals within the last seven minutes of the period.  J.J. Piccinich scored on the power play to kick it off at 13:49, followed 52 seconds later by a short-handed goal from Adrian Carbonara.  Sam Miletic scored his 24th of the year at 14:58.  Owen MacDonald scored his first goal of the game and Mitchell Vande Sompel followed suit before first intermission.

The second period began with three more unanswered goals from the Knights.  Evan Bouchard scored an unassisted goal at 2:58 and Miletic scored his second of the game at 6:15 to give London a 7-1 lead.  MacDonald followed with his second goal of the game at 9:50.  The IceDogs did squeeze out a goal before the end of the second period from Kirill Maksimov, 41 seconds before the second interval.

The third period brought three more straight goals from the Knights offence.  Robert Thomas picked up his 14th goal of the year at 6:30.  Piccinich and Carbonara got their second goals of the afternoon before the nine minute mark.  Niagara goalie Colton Incze allowed all 11 London goals before being pulled in the third period for Stephen Dhillon.

Tyler Parsons stopped 21 of Niagara's 23 shots in goal for London, who host Erie Friday night.
