Knights Lose to Hounds in OT 3-2

A hat trick was all it took for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to beat the London Knights Sunday afternoon.

Zachary Senyshyn's three-peat accounted for all of the Hounds' scoring in their 3-2 overtime win at the Essar Centre.  It was a battle between two division leaders, with the Greyhounds maintaining their lead in the OHL West Division at 64 points.  The Knights went into the contest leading the Midwest Division by one point over the second-place Erie Otters.

Senyshyn began his afternoon with a power-play goal at 16:37 in the first period, with Conor Timkins and Jack Kopacka assisting.  The Knights tied the game just 23 seconds into the second period with Olli Juolevi's eight goal of the season.   The game would remain tied at a goal apiece until the 18-minute mark of the third period, when Robert Thomas broke the deadlock and gave Windsor a 2-1 lead.

The lead would not last long, though.  17 seconds before the end of regulation, Senyshyn put the equalizer in the net.  The game then went into the extra frame and Senyshyn would complete the hat trick and win the game at 3:29.

Joseph Raaymakers was the winning goalie for the Greyhounds with 23 saves.  Tyler Parsons stopped 41 Sault Ste. Marie shots in a losing effort for the Knights.

The Knights return to Budweiser Gardens Wednesday night to host the Sarnia Sting.
