London Lightning Name New Coach

The London Lightning is welcoming Kyle Julius as the new head coach for the 2015-2016 season.

Julius is the former head coach of the Mississauga Power and will be moving to the city with his wife and two children.

The London Lightning parted ways with Carlos Knox last month, citing "conduct detrimental to the team."

The entire lineup has yet to be chosen for the upcoming season, and Julius says there is a lot of work to do.

"I can't look at anything last year or with the staff last year other than the players that are coming back, and we still have to figure that out," Julius tells BlackburnNews.com. "What I'm going to bring is a grit and a toughness ... In my career as a player the short career I've had as a coach I've had good success when I've had the opportunity to prepare and then find guys who want to do the same and look at the game the same way. In Mississauga, last year, there was none of that. The team was already picked when I took the job and it took me a long time to get rid of some guys who didn't want to buy in."

Julius actually suited-up for the Lightning in the 2011-12 season under former head coach Micheal Ray Richardson.

The Mississauga Power dissolved earlier this year after the NBA's Toronto Raptors announced their new D-League franchise, Raptors 905, will play in Mississauga's Hershey Centre.

Julius led Mississauga to a 7-25 record in 2014-15.

The Lightning have won two NBL Championships since the league was founded in 2011.
