Sex assault suspect identified

London police say they have identified a suspect in a sexual assault that happened after a woman got into what she thought was an unmarked taxi. The suspect was identified after police released a photo on Thursday.

Police say just after 2 a. m. on September 11, a woman tried to flag down a cab on Richmond Street near Western Road. A black, four door sedan pulled over. The woman got in, thinking it was an unmarked cab. According to police, she saw what appeared to be a meter near the centre console. Police believe the vehicle was a Honda Civic.

The victim reported to police that she was driven to a parking lot in the area of Dundas Street and Maitland Street where she was sexually assaulted.

The driver is described as a male with medium skin, between 6’0" – 6”3" tall, around 30-35 years of age, 200 pounds, with brown eyes, a small beard on his chin only, and he is balding on the top of his head with hair on the sides.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident or with knowledge of the identity of this person is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com
