Environment Canada has ended all severe thunderstorm watches for the region.
The weather agency issued the alert Thursday afternoon for all of southern Ontario including London-Middlesex, Elgin County, Oxford County, Chatham-Kent, and Windsor-Essex. Forecasters said conditions were favourable for the development of thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon and evening.
"The threat of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and early this evening is associated with a cold front moving across Southern Ontario," Environment Canada says. "Thunderstorms are also possible well in advance of the front."
A severe thunderstorm warning was also briefly issued for the London Middlesex area between 5pm and 7pm, before it was downgraded to a watch. All severe thunderstorm watches were ended just before 9pm.
