Reward Offered For Bank Heist Arrests

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for information that leads to the arrest of two suspects linked to five bank robberies, including one in Oxford County.

The Canadian Bankers Association announced the reward Wednesday in relation to the bank robberies in Embro, Markham, Fonthill, Moorefield, and Scotland earlier this year.

Provincial police have also set up a dedicated tip line at 1-855-677-4636.

The robberies began on March 7 when two men, armed with a firearm and wearing disguises, walked into the CIBC in Markham and demanded money. One of the men was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, grey track pants, a grey face covering, and a dark baseball cap. The other man was dressed in a black hooded jacket, black pants, and had a grey face covering.

The next day, the TD branch in Fonthill was hit by two men. In this robbery, one of the men was dressed in a green sweater, dark pants, dark sunglasses, and had a red bandana face covering. The second man was wearing a grey sweater, baseball cap, and had a white face covering.

A third bank, the RBC in Moorefield, was robbed on March 13. One of the two male suspects was wearing dark clothing with a white scarf covering his face. The other was dressed in dark clothing wearing a Nike ball cap and a red bandana covering face.

A little over two weeks later, police were called to the RBC in Embro after two men in disguises robbed it. The one man was wearing a grey and black striped sweater with a dark hood covering the face, and blue gloves. The other man was wearing a red Adidas sweater with a yellow hood, dark face covering, and orange gloves.

The series of robberies appears to have stopped after the RBC in Scotland was held up on April 6. In that robbery the one man was dressed in a grey shirt, grey baseball cap, with a black hood covering his face, and blue gloves. The other was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a dark face covering.

In each case, the men were armed with a gun and left with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

Police warn the public the suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the men involved are asked not to approach them but to call 911 immediately.
