London's core was divided into two Wednesday by a stalled train that left drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians frustrated.
The freight train was stopped on the tracks south of Oxford St. for just over an hour blocking Richmond St., Colborne St., Maitland St., William St., and Adelaide St.
"A CP train experienced a mechanical issue and crews are on scene working to get the train moved as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience," a CP spokesperson said in a statement emailed to BlackburnNewsLondon.com.
Several pedestrians tired of waiting for the train to be fixed climbed onboard and squeezed between the cars to cross. The London Transit Commission detoured buses around the stalled train, causing delays on routes that run north and south on Richmond and Adelaide.
Other Londoners took to Twitter to warn others of the delay, vent, and crack jokes.
"How many Londoners would it take to push it off the track? Asking for a friend," kidded one person.
"I love that trains still cut the city of London #ldnont in half during the day. #ridiculous," wrote another.
The train began moving around 12:40pm.
