Four Knights Selected In NHL Entry Draft

The London Knights were well-represented at this year's NHL Entry Draft.

Four Knights players were selected by NHL teams this weekend at the draft held in Dallas, two of them in the first round.

Taken in Friday's first round was defenceman Evan Bouchard. He was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers as the tenth overall pick.

Bouchard ranked first among all defenceman this past season with 25 goals for 87 points for the Knights. The Oakville, Ont. native stands 6' 2" and weighs 196 pounds.

Also selected Friday was centre Liam Foudy, by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was taken 18th overall.

Foudy, from Scarborough, Ont., scored 24 goals last season in London and had 40 penalty minutes.

The draft resumed on Saturday with the remaining six rounds. The next Knight to be drafted went in the third round.

Defenceman Alec Regula was taken by his hometown Detroit Red Wings, at 67th overall. The 17-year-old hails from West Bloomfield, Michigan. His father, C.J., had been the Red Wings' long-time dentist.

Regula played in 67 games this past season for the Knights. He scored seven goals for 25 points.

The final Knights player chosen in the draft went in the seventh and final round, to the expansion team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Goalie Jordan Kooy was selected 211th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights.

Kooy backstopped 24 games last season for London. He compiled a 3.11 goals-against-average with one shutout and a 90.4% save percentage.

The 18-year-old Kooy is from Newmarket, Ont.
