Ontario’s police watchdog has ruled that charges will not be laid against any London police officers after a 36-year-old man was hurt in a crash.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was called to investigate the incident back in May 2017.
According to a media release sent by the SIU, London officers were called to a robbery at a pharmacy on Oxford St., just before midnight on May 13, 2017.
Two suspects sped off in a vehicle. After a short pursuit, officers were called off for safety reasons. However, the car with the suspects veered off the road and struck a tree on Hyde Park Rd. The passenger stayed in the car, but the driver fled the scene. He was eventually found after officers brought in the K9 unit.
The 36-year-old suffered a fractured clavicle in the crash and was also treated for a dog bite.
Following their investigation, the SIU ruled on Thursday that there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges.
