Thieves Swipe Swords, Knives From Collectibles Store

London police are looking for suspects after swords and knives were stolen from a south London collectibles shop earlier this week.

Two people can be seen breaking into Reliks Swords Knives and Collectibles on Dulaney Dr. early Tuesday in surveillance video released on the store's Facebook page. The footage shows the pair grabbing several items from display cases and loading them into an awaiting SUV.

"We've been in business now for 18 years so this isn't the first time something like this has happened. But we definitely thought we had taken enough precautions to prevent things like this from happening again," said store owner Jamie Meiklejohn.

Just under $5,000 worth of merchandise was snatched from the store. Because of the uniqueness of his products, Meiklejohn is optimistic the stolen items can be found.

"I don't know if this was a personal robbery for their own collection or if it was to sell. If it is to sell I would certainly hope that being unique content that the police can get some kind of lead," said Meiklejohn.

Video footage of the break-in posted to Facebook has been viewed by more than 19,000 people and shared more than 600 times.

The investigation has been turned over to the London police street crime unit. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
