Charges Laid In South London Shooting

Two men who are no strangers to firearms charges are facing more in connection with a shooting in south London.

Police were called just after 10pm Saturday to an apartment building at 1588 Ernest Ave., where noise believed to be a gunshot was reported. Officers discovered that a bullet had been fired through an apartment door. Luckily, there was no one home at the time so no injuries were reported. Police say this was not a random act and that the apartment was targeted.

Police arrested one suspect on Monday and another on Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, they announced that charges had been laid against 21-year-old Cody M. Leblanc-Ashe of London and 20-year-old Tyler Gibson of Komoka.

Both face firearm possession charges, as well as charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, mischief, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Leblanc-Ashe is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation.

This is not the first time both men have faced firearms charges. Both were charged in September of 2016 after reports of two men threatening people in the area of Brunswick Cr. and Brunswick Ave. Police recovered a replica handgun during their investigation.
