Western Reaches Tentative Deal With Graduate TAs

Western University has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing its graduate teaching assistants.

The deal was reached early this morning, according to the University. It comes after the two sides met with a mediator this week. A statement released by the University on Frirday says Local 610 of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, which represents the teaching assistants, is recommending to members that they vote in favour of the deal. Western's negotiating team will also recommend approval to the Western Board of Governors.

"Details of the tentative contract will not be released publicly until both sides have had an opportunity to vote," the statement said.

Graduate Teaching Assistants will vote on the tentative agreement on April 26 and April 27. In the meantime, Western says exams will continue as scheduled.
