Fake ID Can't Fool Cheque Cashing Clerk

St. Thomas police say a man in his late 30s is in trouble with the law after he allegedly tried to convince a clerk he was in his early 20s in order to get some quick cash.

Police say the man is accused of using an ID that said he was born in 1996 in an attempt to get some money from a cheque cashing service in St. Thomas Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say a clerk at the service called it in as "suspicious activity."

A 39-year-old man is now charged with multiple offences including uttering a forged document and identity theft.

He was later released with a promise to appear in court.
