Freezing Rain Hits London Area

Forecasters who predicted freezing rain would hit the London region on Saturday are being proven correct.

The city and surrounding area starting seeing freezing rain on Saturday afternoon after rain fell throughout much of Friday night and into Saturday morning.

The freezing rain caused several power outages, including one in Old South London that left more than 500 London Hydro customers without electricity for a brief period around 3pm. The latest London Hydro outage information can be found here. 

Hydro One reported scattered outages throughout the London area.

The freezing rain also has led to difficult driving conditions. London police and OPP have reported several collisions on city streets and area highways.

A freezing rain warning remains in effect for the London area. Environment Canada says we can expect freezing rain on Sunday as well.
