What’s Open, Closed On Easter Weekend

Whether you get a three-day or a four-day long weekend, there are a number of closures to be aware of this Easter.

The actual statutory holiday is Good Friday, but government workers and those within the school system also get Easter Monday off. That means federal, provincial, and municipal government offices and schools will be closed until Tuesday. Mail delivery will also resume on Tuesday.

Most grocery stores, banks, the LCBO, Beer Stores, the Labatt Retail Store on Richmond St., Costco Wholesale, and malls including White Oaks Mall, Masonville Place, and Westmount Shopping Centre will close their doors Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Shoppers Drug Mart locations in London at 510 Hamilton Rd., 1224 Commissioners Rd.W, and in Sherwood Forest Mall at 1225 Wonderland Rd. N will be open Good Friday and Easter Monday from 9am-6pm.

All London Public Library branches will be closed Friday, Sunday, and Monday.

The LTC will be running on Good Friday, but on a Sunday schedule.

Parents looking to keep their little ones busy over the long weekend will have no shortage of Easter events to take them to.

Storybook Gardens is offering Easter egg scavenger hunts on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 1pm. In addition to collecting colourful eggs, children will be able to meet the Easter bunny, partake in dance parties and have their photo taken with real bunnies. Admission is $5 per person.

The Children’s Museum is also getting in on the Easter fun all weekend long with sensory bins full of decorative grass and Easter eggs, Easter basket bean bag toss, and an Easter Bunny Hop race in potato sacks. The Museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm.

There will be an Easter egg hunt in support of the Forest Edge Community Pool at 427 Village Green Ave. on Good Friday.

Easter goes to the hounds at the Plunkett Estate on Elviage Dr. where a National Service Dogs’ Easter egg hunt for dogs and their families will be held starting at 10am on Good Friday only.

Royal View Church at 218 Clarke Rd., in partnership with the East London Optimist Club, is hosting a free Easter egg hunt on Saturday from 10am to 12pm.

The Berkshire Club at 500 Berkshire Dr. will also have a free Easter egg hunt and hot dog lunch, that includes a visit from the Easter Bunny on Saturday from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
