Knights Beat Flint 4-3 on Formenton Hat Trick

Alex Formenton scored three straight in the London Knights' win in Flint Saturday night.

Connor McMichael ended up with the game-winner in the Knights' 4-3 win over the Firebirds. It was the sixth straight victory for the Knights.

London has 80 points in the OHL Western Conference and currently holds the fourth seed in the conference's playoff picture.

Flint wasted no time getting on the scoreboard first, with Maurizio Colella scoring 29 seconds into the game. Formenton tied the game with his first goal of contest later in the frame to tie things up at one apiece.

Formenton then scored back-to-back goals in the second period to complete the natural hat trick, the first at 2:03, the second just over five minutes later on the power play. The Firebirds fought back with two goals of their own before the second intermission, from Ty Dellandrea and Hunter Holmes. The score was 3-3 after two periods.

McMichael put up the go-ahead goal at 6:45 in the final period.

Jordan Kooy took the win in goal for the Knights with 36 saves. Luke Cavallin had 24 stops for Flint.

The Knights head into the final weekend of the regular season on Friday when they host the Sarnia Sting.
