Knights Fall to Sault Ste. Marie 6-2

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds exploded against the London Knights Sunday afternoon.

The first-place Greyhounds scored four unanswered goals in the second half of the game to beat the Knights 6-2 at Budweiser Gardens.

The Knights fall to fifth place in the OHL Western Conference with 68 points. Despite the loss, London officially locks up a playoff berth thanks to the Erie Otters' loss to the Windsor Spitfires.

Jack Kopacka started the scoring for Sault Ste. Marie at 9:14 of the opening period, though London's Andrew Perrott tied the game a few minutes later and the score was tied at one after 20 minutes of play.

Morgan Frost gave the Hounds the lead back shortly into the second frame. Nathan Dunkley knotted the score again for the Knights at 4:24 on the power play. Frost scored again later in the stanza to put the Greyhounds ahead for good.

It was all Hounds in the third period with a trio of additional goals. Zack Trott, Taylor Raddysh and Hayden Verbeek were the scorers.

Joseph Raaymakers stumbled in net for London, allowing five goals over 44 shots. Tyler Johnson had 32 saves in the win for Sault Ste. Marie.

The Knights travel to Peterborough Thursday night and take on the Petes.
