Investigation Continues in Fatal Hit-and-Run

London Police are still looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run.

Christina Smith, 32, of London, was killed Thursday night when she tried to stop someone from stealing a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in the area of Vancouver St and Moffatt Ave.

The pickup truck was recovered Friday morning in the area of Trafalgar St and Clarke Ave, police say, but the driver is still being sought.

Police say progress has been made in this investigation but are once again asking the public for any information surrounding this incident, as well as the identity of the driver.

This is the second time in recent months in which a person in London died while trying to stop a vehicle theft. Deborah Titus, 64, died in November after she was hit by an SUV in an east London parking lot. She had been trying to stop a woman who had stolen money from her. Brittany Boyce, 29, later pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Anyone with information on Thursday night's incident should call London Police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
