The OPP is warning residents after drugs tested positive for carfentanil in Norfolk County.
Norfolk County OPP says drugs seized in a previous incident at a Simcoe residence have been tested and confirmed to be Carfentanil.
Police say on October 6 at around 11:30pm, officers on patrol noticed a man at the Target Convenience Store and took him into custody. Police say officers found a suspected narcotic in the man's possession and sent the drugs to Health Canada for testing.
On Friday, Health Canada confirmed and identified the narcotic as Carfentanil.
Police are issuing a public warning about the dangers of this deadly opioid. Carfentanil is suspected to be 100 times more powerful than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine. Exposure to a very small amount of this drug, as little as a grain of salt or 2 mg of powder, could be fatal.
