Soccer Star Coming To Sports Celebrity Dinner

One of the best players in the history of women's soccer will be at the head table at the Start.ca London Sports Celebrity Dinner.

It was announced Thursday that Christine Sinclair will join the head table at the February event that benefits the Thames Valley Children's Centre.

“I am thrilled to be joining other incredible female athletes in London this February,” Sinclair said in a release issued Thursday morning. “It will be great to learn about and see some of the amazing work done by the TVCC and help raise important funds at the dinner. “I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there!”

Sinclair has long been considered the premier player on the Canadian Women's National Team. She had played in four Women's World Cups and her legendary performance in the 2012 Olympics saw her score three times in Canada's overtime loss to the United States in the semi-finals. Her six goals in the tournament set an Olympic record in Women's Soccer that still stands.

The 34-year-old B.C. native is a 13-time winner of the Canadian Soccer Player of the Year award. She currently plays for the Portland Thorns FC in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Sinclair is the second celebrity guest to be announced for the 2018 dinner. WWE hall of famer Trish Stratus was announced as a guest in November. Sinclair and Stratus will join 2018 Sportsperson of the Year Karen Phibbs at the head table.

The Start.ca London Sports Celebrity Dinner will be held February 12.
