The Factory To Start Hiring Staff

A huge adventure park being built in the old Kellogg's plant has begun the task of hiring staff.

The Factory is looking to fill 20 full-time positions and 60 part-time positions as it prepares to open this spring. The 170,000 sq ft facility will feature North America’s largest indoor ropes course, ziplines, a trampoline park, electric go karts, mini golf, escape rooms, virtual reality rooms, an arcade and a toddler soft play area.

“We will have multiple positions open for roles in our ropes, trampoline and soft play attractions, as well as front and back end guest services," says Maddie Wolcott, human resources manager of The Factory. "At the end of the day, we are looking for positive individuals who are team-oriented, have a solid work ethic and a desire to provide a top-notch experience to our guests.”

The redevelopment of the old Kellogg's plant was announced in August by property owner E. & E. McLaughlin Ltd., a family owned and operated Tillsonburg-based business. In addition to the adventure park, plans include a craft brewery and office space.

Jennifer Pastorius, manager of Old East Village Business Improvement Area, is looking forward to the finished product.

“The Kellogg’s site is historically significant to the Old East Village," she says. "The BIA looks forward to The Factory animating the space, creating walkable employment prospects for local residents and regenerating connectivity to the Village residential and commercial communities”.

Hundreds of jobs were lost in 2014 when the Kellogg's plant closed. It had been open since 1913.
