London Man Dies Days After 402 Crash

A 76-year-old London man seriously injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Hwy. 402 in Strathroy last week has died.

Wayne Gatschene died Friday from injuries he suffered in the October 30 crash in the eastbound lanes of the highway, east of Centre Rd.

Middlesex OPP said the sedan Gatschene was driving left the roadway around 4:15pm and crashed into the median ditch, causing the vehicle to roll. Gatschene and a female passenger were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three other people in the vehicle were also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There is no update on the condition of the four passengers hurt in the crash.

Police closed that stretch of the 402 for roughly five hours as they investigated. So far, they have not given any indication of what may have caused the deadly collision.
