UPDATE: Hwy. 402 Reopened After Crash Injures Five

Five people are in hospital after a rollover collision closed the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 402 in the Strathroy area.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Monday around 4:15pm, officers responded to the crash eastbound lanes near Centre Rd. after a passenger sedan left the road and crash into the median ditch, which caused the vehicle to overturn.

The male driver was airlifted to hospital and a female passenger was taken by ambulance.  Both suffered life threatening injuries in the collision.

Three other passengers were also taken to hospital with  non-life threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes of Hwy. 402 were closed between Hickory Rd. and Centre Rd. until around 5:40pm.  Police then closed the eastbound lanes in the same area at around 7:30pm. The highway was fully reopened at around 10:30pm.
