A random traffic stop in St. Thomas landed police not only a quantity of drugs, but also a man wanted for assault.
Police stopped a vehicle on Talbot St. near Alma St. around 2:30am on Thursday. Officers allege the 29-year-old passenger gave them a false name in an effort to avoid arrest. After a brief struggle the man, who was wanted by police for assault, uttering threats, and mischief, was arrested.
During a search, police seized 1.9g of crystal methamphetamine and .5g of cocaine along with $350 cash.
The unidentified man is also charged with resisting arrest, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and public mischief.
