Witnesses Wanted After Gas Station Robbery

London police are asking for witnesses to come forward after someone robbed a gas station in the city's east end at gunpoint and took off in a red Corvette.

Police say a man with a gun walked into a gas station at 1331 Dundas St. at around 1am Saturday and demanded money. Officers say the man ran out of the store after he received some cash and drove off in a 1988 red Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a beige top.

Police say that same vehicle had been reported stolen from Watford at around 8pm Friday.

Officers say they found the car in a parking lot in the area of York St. and Adelaide St. sometime after the robbery, adding they also found a man who fit the description of the suspect walking out of a business nearby and arrested him.

A 34-year-old Hamilton man is now facing a number of charges including armed robbery.

Officers are still asking the public for tips. If you saw a vehicle that fits the description above sometime during the evening of Friday, October 13 or early in the morning on Saturday, October 14, London police would like to speak with you.
