A crash in London that led to impaired driving charges is now being probed by the Special Investigations Unit.
On Friday night, two vehicles collided at Culver Dr. and Culver Place. Prior to the collision, a London police officer stopped one of the vehicles at the intersection of Culver Dr. and Third St.
According to the SIU, as the officer walked up to the vehicle, it sped off. The officer got back into the cruiser and followed the vehicle. The collision happened shortly after.
One of the passengers in the vehicle that was stopped by the officer is still in hospital with serious injuries.
The driver, 32-year-old Ly Mom, is charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, flight from police causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, driving while disqualified, and failing to comply with a recognizance.
Two SIU investigators have been assigned to the case.
