Fiery Norfolk County Crash Leaves One Dead

An early morning crash in Norfolk County has killed one driver.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incident occurred shortly after 5am Saturday on Charlotteville West 1/4 Mile Line Rd. A pickup truck was traveling northbound between McDowell Rd E and Charlotteville Rd 11 when it somehow went off the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire soon after.

Firefighters from the Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services put the fire out, and the driver was found deceased inside the vehicle.

The identity of the driver has not been released, pending notification of loved ones.

The OPP had closed the section of Charlotteville West 1/4 Mile Line Rd between McDowell and Charlotteville Rd 11 for several hours to allow its Technicial Collision Investigation unit to complete its work.
