Midwestern Ontario Elementary Math Scores Released

The Education Quality and Accountability Office test results show math scores for Avon Maitland District School Board trail the provincial average in Grade 3 and 6.

61% of grade 3 students met or exceeded the standard, compared to a province-wide average of 62%.

By Grade 6, just 47% of students made the grade, compared to a provincial average of 50 %

In Grade 9 Applied math, about 51% meet the standard, which is better than the 44% provincial average.

82% of academic students were at the provincial standard, just below the provincial average of 83%.

Elementary Math results for the Bluewater District School Board trail the provincial average. 57% of Grade 3 students met or exceeded the provincial standard, compared a province-wide average of 62%.

In Grade 6, just 37% of students met or exceeded the provincial standard, compared to a 50% average across the province.

In Grade 9, 50% of applied students made the grade, which is better than the 44% provincial average.

79% of Academic students were performing at the expected level, compared to an 83% provincial average.

However, in all cases, the number of Bluewater students meeting the math standard edged up slightly.

The Upper Grand District School Board says the latest test results from the Education Quality and Accountability Office show grade nine students exceeded provincial averages in Math scores.

The 2016-2017 Assessments found 90% of UGDSB academic students met or exceeded the standard, compared to an 83% provincial average.

However, just 58% of applied students met the standard, which still beats the 44% provincial average.

About 58% of Grade 3 students achieved the standard, compared to 62% provincially.

And about 48% of Grade 6 students reached the provincial standard, compared to 50% provincially.
