St. Thomas Officer Hit By Butter Knife Booby Trap

St. Thomas police are investigating after one of their officers was hit by butter knives that were part of a booby trap in a vacant apartment.

Police say the officer was hit once in the hand and once in the chest by the knives after forcing open a door at an apartment on Talbot St. in St. Thomas just after 8am Monday.

A third knife reportedly flew towards the officer and the landlord, but missed them both and landed on the floor.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The officer at the scene was investigating after police got a call from the landlord, who believed an already evicted tenant was trespassing at the residence.

Police say at this point, no charges have been laid, but the incident is still under investigation.
