50/50 Draw Highlights Bothwell Car Show

Bothwell is experiencing a blast from the past as classic cars flock to the town this weekend for its annual car show.

The festivities are already underway with a car corral and automotive flea market taking place on Friday and Saturday starting at 8am.

Event chair Dennis Smith says the 50/50 draw is always a hit.

"The draw last year was $30,000 take home and I know they upped the licence, so they're looking for a higher payout than that this year," says Smith. "It's an amazing draw -- we'll hopefully have 8,000 in the park here [Saturday]."

The major draws will start at 3:30pm on Saturday and the Firemens 50/50 draw is set for 4pm.

Smith says the money they raise from the event goes to local charities.

"It goes to the two fire departments in Bothwell -- and it goes out to all of the charities they have," says Smith. "All of the money that's made from the show goes out to the community as well."

There's also a unique theme to this year's show, selected by Murray McEwan from Old Autos Publication. Anyone who pulls up in original or customized panel trucks (up to one ton), sedan deliveries, or station wagons over 20 years old will get free admission.

The annual parade will start at 7pm while the Mega Car Show is set for Saturday.
