Draft Picks Commit To Knights

The London Knights will have three of their draft picks in the fold when the new OHL season begins.

The team announced Wednesday that is has received committments from Dalton Duhart, Ryan Bangs, and Jesper Bratt.

Duhart was a third round pick of the Knights in the 2017 draft, while Bangs was taken in the third round of the 2016 draft, and Bratt was selected in the 2017 import draft.

Duhart, a forward from Flint, Michigan, has 17 goals and 25 assists in 31 games with the Detroit Belle Tire U16 team this past season.

"It still doesn't feel real yet that I'm playing for the London Knights in the OHL," Duhart said at a news conference at Budweiser Gardens on Wednesday. "I've been on the ice four to five times a week. In the weight room as well. Working on my nutrition a little bit more than I have in the past just because I am playing at the next level. Trying to get stronger and faster."

Stittsville-native Bangs, a defenceman, spent the last season with Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL and the Arnprior Packers of the CCHL2. He had one goal and two assists in nine games with the Canadians, and four goals and 19 assists in 24 games with the Packers.

Bratt is from Stockholm, Sweden and played in the SweAl League last season. In 46 games, the 19-year-old forward had six goals and 16 assists. He was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL entry draft.

"Fan can expect speed in our lineup again, lots of skill," said Knights General Manager Rob Simpson. "We had a lot of 2000 players last year around the area, they're playing with the team or playing junior B in the area. Fans can expect for those players to take a big jump this year and be able to come into the lineup and contribute. Just see a fast, entertaining game on the ice."
