Royce White Returning To Lightning

The Most Valuable Player in the National Basketball League of Canada will be back in London next season.

The London Lightning announced Friday that Royce White will return for the 2017-2018 season.

“I’m happy to announce that reigning league MVP, Royce White, has signed to play in London, despite the fact he received offers to play in the NBA Summer League, NBA G League and in Europe.” said owner-general manager, Vito Frijia.

White, a former first round pick in the NBA draft, joined the Lightning before last season and led the team to its third NBLC championship. He averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists on his way to being named league MVP.

“I had a great time here in London. I couldn’t have asked to play in a better situation or organization for my first pro season.” said White. “My life here is balanced. I had great comradery with the guys and a lot of support from the London community.”

With White back in the fold, the Lightning will likely be the favourites to repeat as NBLC champions. White is certainly confident that he and his teammates will be the team to beat.

“We are going to win again, period," he says. "We are going to defend our title.”
