Kim Mitchell, The Tea Party To Play Ribfest

Three Ontarian singer/songwriters will headline a free concert coming to London this August in honour Ontario's 150th anniversary.

The Ontario Ministry of Tourism in partnership with Ribfest announced on Friday rockers The Tea Party and Kim Mitchell, along with rapper Kardinal Offishall will headline the  London stop on the ONtour concert series slated for August 3 in Victoria Park.

“These are the biggest acts that Ribfest has ever hosted. It has always been a goal of mine to have Kim Mitchell play at London Ribfest, I just love his music," said Doug Hillier, the head of London's Ribfest. "We added the chalk painters to the fest several years ago with great success and last year the amazing addition of The Stihl Timbersports Canadian Championship that has made Ribfest their new home. This will be a 28 year career highlight for me.”

The ONtour concert series was announced last week. It will see shows in 20 communities across the province this summer, starting Sunday at Alderville First Nation and ending September 17 in Petawawa.

“I’m thrilled that ONtour is making its way to London. Music is a fundamental, much- loved part of celebrating that truly brings people together. This is another fantastic opportunity for our community to celebrate our 150th summer," said Deb Matthews, London North Centre MPP.

The province anticipates 80,000 people will attend the free concerts.
