Child Sexual Assault Investigation Expands To London

As additional charges of sexual assault against children are laid against a Guelph man, police are expanding their search for victims to cities the man previously lived in, including London.

Leigh Taylor was originally charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference in March. Guelph police say following Taylor's arrest, four more people came forward alleging they had been assaulted.

After further investigation, the 64-year-old was arrested a second and a third time on May 30 and June 11. He now faces 12 more charges, including five counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, three counts of exposure to a person under 16, and three counts of indecent acts.

According to Guelph police, Taylor previously lived in London, Windsor, and Toronto and was involved in a number of community activities that involved children. That has led police to expand their search for victims to these areas.

Police say there is no statute of limitations on crimes of this nature and encourage anyone with information to call or email Constable Pronovost at the Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212 extension 7203 or ppronvost@guelphpolice.ca.
