Kingsville K Of C Raises Money For Mettawas Park

A park redevelopment project is getting a boost from the local Knights of Columbus.

A cheque for over $2,800 was presented to Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos and other town representatives during a presentation Thursday morning at the Kingsville Recreation Complex.

The cheque was handed over by Ted Rocheleau, the Grand Knight of the Kingsville Knights of Columbus. The group raised the money through its seventh annual Vegas Night Dinner and Auction held back in February.

The Mettawas Park project is an ongoing redevelopment on an 11 acre site on the Lake Erie shoreline, on the site of the former Mettawas Hotel.  The area will consist of walking trails, gardens, playgrounds, picnic areas, a splash pad, and more.

The redevelopment will cost $3.5-million, according to the town of Kingsville's official website.  The project has already received a $250,000 anonymous donation toward completion.  A gazebo has already been completed, along with pathways and landscaping.
