Blue Flag To Fly At Port Stanley Beach

For the eighth straight year, the Blue Flag will fly over the main beach in Port Stanley.

Environmental Defence has released its annual list of beaches and marinas that have earned the eco-certification. This year, 27 beaches and marinas will fly the Blue Flag. Of those, 14 are in Ontario, including the Port Stanley main beach, Port Glasgow beach, the main beach and marina in Bayfield, Grand Bend beach, Canatara Park beach in Sarnia, and Colchester Harbour Marina in the Town of Essex.

“Millions of people around the world look for the Blue Flag when choosing a beach or marina to visit. And there’s a good reason for that,” said Brett Tryon, Blue Flag program manager with Environmental Defence. “A Blue Flag means that a beach or marina is clean, sustainably managed, and meets high safety standards. It is truly a symbol of excellence.”

To receive a Blue Flag, beaches and marinas must meet high international standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education, and safety and services.
