Express Drop Close Game To Lightning

The London Lightning topped the Windsor Express 109-107 in Game 1 of the Central Division finals, following a back-and-forth final quarter on Friday.

At the end of the first frame, the Express trailed the Lightning 29-24, and remained only eight points behind heading into halftime. Windsor was able to take the lead halfway throughout the third, and held an 86-84 advantage over London at the end of the frame.

London tied things up with just under six minutes left in the game, but the Express fought back to regain the lead to make it 107-105 with three minutes remaining. However, London jumped ahead in the final minute to win the game by just two points.

Garrett Williamson led London with a game high 25 points, while Ryan Anderson put up 22 points and 14 rebounds. Royce White also had 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Tony Bennett scored 20 points for Windsor, while Darren Duncan and Juan Pattillo put up 16 points each.

The Lightning now lead the best-of-seven series 1-0.

The two teams are at Budweiser Gardens on Sunday for Game 2. Tip off is at 3pm.
