Armed Man Wanted After Gunpoint Kidnapping

London police are searching for a 29-year-old man after a gunpoint kidnapping in the city led to a heavily armed police presence on the Oneida Nation of the Thames.

Police were called about a home invasion on Saul St., near Dundas St. around 11:15am on Wednesday. During the invasion, a male resident was forced from the home at gunpoint and into a vehicle.

The vehicle was quickly located by police but the driver refused to stop for officers. The pursuit was short lived with officers calling it off due to safety concerns.

The vehicle then left London and was spotted on Walker Rd., in Oneida Nation of the Thames, an aboriginal community southwest of the city.

Around 2:30pm, members of the Middlesex OPP Crime Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit, and Emergency Response Team and Oneida Nation of the Thames Police joined the investigation. Walker Rd. was closed at River Rd. as heavily armoured officers flooded the area in dozens of vehicles. The area remained under police lockdown for roughly seven hours.

The victim was located and taken to hospital with minor injures. The suspect got away, according to police.

The two men are known to each other with police noting this was not a random incident.

Police are searching for 29-year-old Marlon Antone, who was already wanted for assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, and mischief under $5,000 in relation to a separate incident.

It is believed Antone is armed. Police advise anyone who spots him not to approach him but to call 911.
