London police have discovered what they believe to be an inactive clandestine drug lab at a storage unit in the west-end.
Officers from the guns and drugs section, along with RCMP began investigating the suspected drug lab at the StorageMart at 328 Commissioners Rd. on Tuesday night.
While police are not commenting on what was being manufactured at the facility, they did disclose they were alerted to the suspected lab by a civilian.
"[The individual] advised us that they had located suspicious items or unfamiliar items inside of a particular storage unit," said Constable Sandasha Bough.
Firefighters and paramedics joined police on scene as officers in biohazard suits were removing items from the unit throughout the day Wednesday.
"We have the London fire department on scene just because of the nature of the materials located within the storage unit," said Bough. "It's a safety precaution with regards to removing these items."
Police hope to release more information about the ongoing investigation on Thursday.
