Otters Eliminate Knights With 5-4 OT Victory

Reigning Memorial Cup champions the London Knights have been eliminated from the OHL playoffs in the second round, after falling 5-4 to the Erie Otters in a hard fought Game 7 on Tuesday.

The Otters may drew first blood with a goal 8:41 into the game, but the Knights were off to a strong start after Janne Kuokkanen, Evan Bouchard and Cliff Pu all scored to give London a 3-1 lead in under 15 minutes.  Erie added a goal in the final seconds of the frame to make it a one point game.

After no scoring in the second, the Otters scored twice to take a 4-3 lead with 3:31 left to play in the third period. However, Mitchell Stephens scored for London in the final 60 seconds of the frame to tie the game and force overtime.

Erie scored the game winning goal 10:40 into extra time to win the game.

London goaltender Tyler Parsons made 58 saves out of 63 shots on net.

The Otters will now move on to round three of the playoffs to take on the Owen Sound Attack.
