Truppe Gets PC Nod In London North Centre

Susan Truppe is looking to make a political comeback and unseat Ontario's Deputy Premier.

The former London North Centre MP who served as Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women in the Conservative government of Stephen Harper, won the nomination for London North Centre for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario on Sunday.

Truppe is poised to attempt to unseat Deputy Premier and Liberal MPP Deb Matthews, who has held the riding since 2003.

“Susan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our impressive slate of candidates," said Ontario PC leader Patrick Brown in a statement released Sunday evening. "As a former Member of Parliament, Susan served as the Parliamentary Secretary for the Status of Women, while sitting on the Standing Committee on the Status of Women. As one of my colleagues in Ottawa, I had the opportunity to see first-hand her passion and enthusiasm for the people of London. She was a tireless voice for her constituents, always putting their interests first. I can’t wait to have her perspective as a member of our modern and inclusive PC team."

The next provincial election is to be held on or before June 7, 2018.
